The French basketball title race will go down to a winner-takes-all finale after the Roca Team produced a commanding display to defeat Paris Basketball 96-84 at Salle Gaston Médecin and level the Betclic Élite Finals series at 2-2.
Facing elimination after falling behind in the series, Monaco responded emphatically in front of its home supporters, delivering one of its most complete performances of the season to keep its championship hopes alive. The victory sets up a decisive fifth game in Paris, where the two rivals will battle for the French crown.
Monaco established control from the opening minutes, combining aggressive defence with efficient scoring to unsettle the visitors. The hosts quickly built momentum through the contributions of Jaron Blossomgame, Nemanja Nedovic and Matthew Strazel, while a disciplined defensive effort limited Paris’ offensive rhythm.
The Principality side steadily extended its advantage throughout the first half, with Kevarrius Hayes proving influential around the basket and Terry Tarpey providing valuable energy on both ends of the court. By halftime, Monaco had opened a commanding 54-33 lead, leaving Paris with a significant mountain to climb.
Any hopes of a Paris comeback were largely extinguished after the break. Monaco maintained its intensity, continuing to dominate defensively while finding success in transition and from long range. Strazel, Diallo and Blossomgame all played key roles as the gap stretched beyond 25 points during the third quarter.
Paris struggled to find consistent answers despite another productive scoring display from Nadir Hifi, and Monaco entered the final period firmly in control. With the outcome effectively decided, the closing minutes became a celebration for the home crowd as the Roca Team secured the result required to extend the series.
The victory ensures that the 2026 French championship will be decided in a final showdown in the capital, mirroring last season’s dramatic conclusion between the same two clubs.
Speaking after the game, Monaco forward Terry Tarpey praised the collective effort of the team.
“Every player made sacrifices for the group and for this win,” he said. “We showed what we are capable of when we play together. The atmosphere with our supporters was incredible, and now we have one more opportunity to bring home the title.”
The decisive Game 5 will take place in Paris, where Monaco will attempt to complete its comeback and claim another French championship.
