A major milestone has been reached in the transformation of the Princess Grace Hospital Centre, with the new hospital building set to be officially handed over to healthcare teams on July 1…

The delivery of the 40,000-square-metre facility marks the beginning of a crucial transition phase ahead of the arrival of the first patients. Hospital staff will gradually take possession of the building, undertaking a series of tests, training exercises and operational rehearsals designed to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency before services are transferred.

The project represents the culmination of a decade of construction work that began in 2016. Following the completion of the main structural works in September 2024, the final stages have focused on fitting out and equipping the building. At peak activity, up to 700 workers were employed on the site.

Céline Caron-Dagioni, Minister of Equipment, Environment and Urban Planning, described the handover as more than simply delivering a building. She said the process would involve verifying, testing and securing every aspect of the facility before welcoming patients.

The Government and hospital management have been preparing the transition for several months. A “live rehearsal” phase will continue through the end of 2026, allowing teams to familiarise themselves with the new environment while ensuring full regulatory compliance and optimal health and safety conditions for staff and future patients.
