At FANB High School on May 27, contemporary literature took centre stage as 58 students from schools across the Principality gathered to meet the authors shortlisted for the 2026 “High School Students’ Choice” award organised by the Prince Pierre Foundation…
The event offered students the chance to discuss the novels they had studied throughout the school year directly with the writers themselves. Among the invited authors were Reine Bivier, Paul Gaznier, Catherine Girard, Soline Honorine and Camille Lévraz, whose novel Rust sparked particularly thoughtful exchanges for its exploration of sexual violence and family relationships.
Throughout the day, students asked questions about inspiration, the writing process and the personal experiences that may have shaped the stories. For many participants, the encounter provided a rare opportunity to better understand the realities behind literary creation while preparing for future French baccalaureate presentations.
Authors also welcomed the direct dialogue with young readers, describing the discussions as both moving and important. The informal format encouraged open conversation and allowed students to engage with literature in a more personal and interactive way.
Following the meetings, students will continue reading and debating the shortlisted works before casting their votes in September. The winner of the 2026 High School Students’ Choice award will be announced during the Prince Pierre Foundation ceremony at the Salle Garnier on October 13.
