The Association Monégasque des Athlètes Olympiques de Monaco (AMAO) brought together schoolchildren, Olympians and dignitaries on the morning of Thursday, April 9, for the fifth edition of its annual Olympian Clean Up Day, a civic initiative that channels the spirit of the Olympic movement into environmental action.

Prince Albert II attended the event alongside Minister of State Christophe Mirmand and a number of prominent figures from across the Principality, lending the occasion considerable weight as it gathered on the Place du Palais.

Students from Collège Charles III and Collège Bellevue formed the heart of the operation, fanning out through the narrow lanes of Monaco-Ville to collect litter and clean public spaces all the way down to the Stade du Devens. The route took participants through some of the Principality’s most historic streets, giving the clean-up a visible presence at the very centre of Monaco.

Now in its fifth year, the Olympian Clean Up Day has established itself as one of the Principality’s most tangible expressions of the Olympic values of effort and solidarity, connecting the next generation directly to the environmental commitments that underpin modern sport.
