Monaco has cleared the way for the next stage of its Larvotto Supérieur housing development, after the National Council voted on Thursday, April 2, to authorise the decommissioning of land required for construction to proceed.

The state project will deliver 35 domanial apartments on boulevard du Larvotto, along with 94 parking spaces and a Monaco Telecom data centre. It forms part of the Principality’s broader public housing programme, launched in 2019, which aims to expand the stock of state-owned housing available to Monegasques.

The site presents considerable engineering challenges. Located on steep and restricted terrain, the building’s design has been adapted accordingly, and officials confirmed that increasing the number of apartments beyond 35 was not viable given the physical constraints and potential impacts on neighbouring properties.

The project’s timeline has been revised following new technical assessments, with completion now expected in late 2028, a delay on earlier projections.
