Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène inaugurated a new parent-child unit at the Princess Grace Hospital Centre (CHPG) on Thursday, marking a further step in Monaco’s commitment to family-centred healthcare…

Joined by Social Affairs and Health Minister Christophe Robino, CHPG director Benoîte Rousseau de Sevelinges and project patron Dmitry Rybolovlev, the Princely Couple toured the newly completed facility designed to support both infants and their families.

The unit features four specially designed rooms created to offer a more homely and reassuring environment during hospital stays. Parents are able to remain with their child around the clock, ensuring a continuous presence that is considered essential for both emotional wellbeing and recovery, particularly in the case of newborns requiring close monitoring or specialised care.

Bringing together medical excellence and a human-centred approach, the facility is supported by a multidisciplinary team including nurses, midwives, childcare assistants and doctors. The aim is to provide not only high-level treatment, but also guidance and reassurance for families during what can be a challenging period.

The project forms part of the broader development of the CHPG’s mother-and-child division, with a clear focus on strengthening the bond between parents and infants throughout hospitalisation. It also reflects the ongoing engagement of the Princely Couple in initiatives supporting families, including programmes led by Princess Charlène to promote infant safety and first aid awareness.

The new unit highlights Monaco’s continued efforts to deliver care that is both advanced and deeply attentive to the needs of families.
