The Roca Team has confirmed that head coach Vassilis Spanoulis has left the club, with both sides agreeing to end their collaboration with immediate effect.

In a statement released by the club, Monaco expressed its appreciation for the Greek coach’s time in the Principality, highlighting the commitment and energy he brought to the Roca Team during his tenure. Club officials noted that Spanoulis’ work with players, staff and supporters helped strengthen the team’s identity and competitive spirit.

Spanoulis’ period in charge included several notable milestones for Monaco basketball. Under his leadership, the team reached its first-ever EuroLeague final in Abu Dhabi, while also capturing the French Super Cup and winning the Leaders Cup for the first time in eight years. These achievements helped reinforce Monaco’s growing reputation as a major force in European basketball.

Club general manager Oleksiy Yefimov paid tribute to the coach’s impact, recalling their first meeting in Thessaloniki and describing Spanoulis as more than just a tactician. According to Yefimov, the club welcomed “a true leader” whose influence extended beyond the court and left a lasting mark on the organisation.

Whilst the decision to part ways was described as difficult, Monaco emphasised that the relationship ends on positive terms. The club thanked Spanoulis for his dedication and said he will always remain part of the Roca Team family.

Despite the change on the bench, Monaco says its focus remains firmly on the remainder of the season, with the squad determined to finish the campaign with the same ambition and pride that have defined the club’s rise in recent years.
