Monaco’s gaming heritage has received a major boost after the Casino de Monte-Carlo and Casino Café de Paris were jointly named Best Overall Casino at the European Casino Awards 2026…
Presented by the European Casino Association in Barcelona, the distinction recognises excellence across the entire customer experience, from gaming diversity and service quality to innovation and security.
For Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM), which operates both venues, the award marks a milestone. It is the first time the group has received the top European honour for two establishments simultaneously, reflecting the collective work of teams across the gaming division. Management stressed that the recognition highlights not just architecture and history, but the professionalism and expertise of staff who deliver a consistent high-end experience to an international clientele.
Central to that reputation is the SBM Gaming School, which trains future croupiers and casino professionals through a highly selective programme combining technical skills, languages, customer service and stress management. Graduates go on to work across premium gaming tables, ensuring service standards remain among the highest in Europe.
Innovation has also played a role. New themed events, enhanced loyalty programmes and bespoke experiences have helped attract a growing global audience, while recent additions such as the Monte-Carlo Cigar Club have expanded the offering beyond gaming alone.
Looking ahead, plans to modernise the Casino Café de Paris by 2027 aim to blend heritage with contemporary expectations. For SBM, the award confirms Monaco’s position as a leading European destination where tradition, luxury and innovation continue to define the casino experience.
