The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has unveiled a change in its leadership structure, marking a new phase in its development as it approaches its 20th anniversary.

After more than ten years at the helm, Olivier Wenden will leave his operational role within the Foundation to take up a new position as Chief of Staff to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II. He is set to formally assume his new duties on Monday, March 2. During his tenure as Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Wenden oversaw a significant expansion of the Foundation’s international reach and influence, helping to position it at the intersection of scientific research, financial innovation and public policy, with a particular emphasis on advancing the blue economy.

From the same date, Romain Ciarlet will take over as Vice Chairman and CEO. Appointed Executive Director in 2019, Ciarlet has played a central role in shaping the Foundation’s strategic direction and operational framework. He has been closely involved in the development of several flagship initiatives, including the Ocean Innovators Platform, the ReOcean Fund, the Blue Economy Index and the Re.Generation Future Leaders Program.

The planned handover has been presented as a deliberate move to ensure continuity and stability at a pivotal moment for the Foundation, which is celebrating two decades of activity dedicated to environmental protection and sustainable development.

The Foundation has expressed its confidence in the new leadership configuration and extended its congratulations to both Olivier Wenden and Romain Ciarlet, wishing them success in their respective roles as the organisation looks ahead to its next chapter.
