After six months on the artificial island of Yumeshima, the Monaco Pavilion has officially concluded its participation in the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.
Welcoming nearly 1.5 million visitors—over 5% of the event’s total audience of around 28 million—the pavilion carved out a significant presence on the international stage. Its popularity underscores the global fascination with Monaco and highlights the pavilion’s role as a space designed to inspire wonder, reflection, and cultural exchange.
Launched on April 13, 2025 under the leadership of General Commissioner S.E. Mireille Martini, alongside Pavilion Director Corinne Corradi and Deputy General Commissioner Kristina Djordjevic, the pavilion relied on a dedicated team of approximately 50 staff from Monaco and Japan to ensure smooth operations.
More than just a visitor attraction, the pavilion represented a meaningful exchange between Monaco and Japan, rooted in shared values of sustainability and mutual respect. As a symbol of peace and resilience, the pavilion’s iconic olive tree was gifted to the city of Osaka in a ceremony attended by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and Osaka Mayor Hideyuki Yokoyama.
The Monaco Pavilion will be remembered for its thoughtful approach, warm hospitality, and the personal connections it fostered throughout the Expo. While its doors have now closed, the event leaves a lasting testament to the enduring friendship between Monaco and Japan.
