Two of Monaco’s most prominent Princesses were honoured on October 6th, in an intimate ceremony held in the Hall of Mirrors at the Prince’s Palace…

Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover was elevated to the rank of Grand Cross in the National Order of Merit, one of France’s highest distinctions. Her sister, Her Serene Highness Princess Stéphanie, was named Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour; a rare recognition reserved for exceptional service.

The decorations were presented by Jean d’Haussonville, French Ambassador to Monaco, in the presence of close family members. Although discreet in form, the moment was steeped in symbolism and gratitude.

Both Princesses, long committed to humanitarian, cultural and social causes, chose to share the honour with their teams, insisting that the awards reflect collective effort rather than individual acclaim.

Princess Stéphanie is widely recognised for her tireless work in AIDS awareness and animal protection, while Princess Caroline, Princess of Hanover, is celebrated for her leadership in the arts, children’s charities and social outreach.

With emotion and humility, they accepted the distinctions not only as personal accolades, but as acknowledgements of Monaco’s continued engagement in fields of solidarity, culture and public service.
