Monaco’s Condamine Market, a cornerstone of community life for generations, is preparing for a major facelift. Following the Town Hall’s announcement in March 2025, plans were presented this autumn detailing how the market square will be reshaped to meet the needs of both traders and customers, while preserving its historic character.

The project, due to begin in early 2026, aims to modernise infrastructure, improve comfort for merchants and visitors, and adapt the space to the Principality’s evolving urban landscape. The redesigned hall will be more functional, sustainable and welcoming, while maintaining the warm, authentic atmosphere that has long made the Condamine a gathering point for locals and visitors alike.

To ensure that daily life at the market carries on uninterrupted, City Hall has organised a temporary relocation. From January 2026, traders will move into purpose-built kiosks on the Market Square itself, just a few steps from their usual stalls. Customers will continue to find the same familiar faces, opening hours and variety of produce throughout the renovation period.

The temporary square will be fitted with harmonised kiosks, sheltered areas for comfort and safety, and a layout designed for easy access, including for people with reduced mobility. Officials stressed that the hallmark conviviality of the market — its spirit of connection, sharing and community — will remain untouched.

Deputy Mayor Marjorie Crovetto, responsible for Commerce and Markets, said that regular dialogue with stallholders has been central to planning. Meetings and one-to-one discussions are being held to ensure traders’ concerns are addressed and that the transition runs smoothly.

The provisional schedule sets January 2026 for the kiosk installation, with the brand-new Condamine Market Hall scheduled to open in early 2027. For now, the heart of Monaco’s neighbourhood life beats on, promising continuity through change and a revitalised market for the future.
