A student at the International School of Monaco (ISM), Étienne Franzi, has achieved the rare and remarkable feat of earning a perfect score of 45 out of 45 on the International Baccalaureate…

This distinction places him among the top 0.5% of students worldwide who sit the exam each year. The 18-year-old Monegasque earned top marks in every subject, including mathematics, chemistry, physics, economics, and both French and English literature, securing a bilingual diploma, as reported by Monaco Matin.

ISM Director Stuart Bryan described the result as “a rare achievement,” highlighting the school’s continued academic excellence. This year, ISM celebrated a 100% pass rate across both its IB Diploma and Career-related Programmes, with an average score of 36.7 points. Nearly 90% of the cohort achieved 35 points or more, with five students exceeding 40 points.

For Franzi, the accomplishment marks the end of a demanding year filled with academic challenges and university applications. He will now head to London to begin engineering studies at Imperial College. “We can’t stay in the same place forever,” he said. “It’s time.” ISM’s growing success reflects its rising stature within the Principality and beyond.
