Fresh off the slopes of Turin, the triumphant athletes of Special Olympics Monaco were officially welcomed at the State Minister’s Residence this Wednesday, April 16 following their impressive showing at the 2025 World Winter Games.
The reception was hosted by Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Monaco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, who is currently serving as Acting Minister of State. Addressing the athletes and their coaches, she praised the delegation not just for their medals, but for the powerful message they carried to the world.
“You did more than compete,” she told them. “You embodied courage, perseverance and team spirit. You’ve proven that determination knows no limits—that heart and passion can move mountains. On the slopes, in every effort and with every smile, you showed the true meaning of inclusion, inner strength and the joy of sport.”
Berro-Amadeï also extended heartfelt thanks to the dedicated team behind the athletes, applauding the tireless efforts of Special Olympics Monaco’s staff and volunteers, including President Pierre Van Klaveren and Director Marc Muratori.
The Monegasque delegation returned from Italy with a proud haul of 12 medals, including two golds, earned across three disciplines: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoe racing. Their performance put Monaco firmly on the global stage in Turin, where they were cheered not just for podium finishes, but for embodying the spirit of the Games.
Next up for the team: the 2027 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Chile, where Monaco will once again fly the flag for inclusion, excellence and unshakable team spirit.
