Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signalled that further information on the Monaco bomb attack targeting businessman Vadim Ermolaev could be released in the coming days, following dramatic court hearings in Kyiv that have raised fresh questions about the international investigation…
Speaking after receiving what he described as additional reports on the case, President Zelensky referred to the affair as a “sensational situation” and said he would inform the public once further details become available. His comments came on the same day two men accused of murdering prime Monaco bombing suspect Anastasiia Berezovska appeared before a Kyiv court.
The hearings brought another unexpected twist. Vladyslav Reut, an active officer in Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (GUR), reportedly withdrew an earlier confession in which investigators said he admitted killing Berezovska. Instead, he claimed former security officer Vitalii Zhykovych fired the fatal shots, alleging he acted under threats against his family. Zhykovych’s legal team rejected those claims, while prosecutors maintain the pair acted together and have charged both men with premeditated murder.
The two suspects have been remanded in custody without bail as the investigation continues. Prosecutors have indicated they are examining possible motives but say it is too early to disclose them publicly.
Meanwhile, Monegasque investigators continue working closely with their Ukrainian counterparts to establish who planned and financed the June 29 parcel bomb attack that seriously injured Ermolaev, his partner and a 13-year-old boy outside their Monaco residence. Despite the latest arrests and courtroom testimony, the identity of those who ordered the attack remains unknown, and authorities in both countries say the investigation is continuing on multiple fronts.
