even-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton believes Ferrari could be in contention for victory on the streets of Monaco following the team’s encouraging performance at the Canadian Grand Prix.

According to reports, Hamilton sees the unique characteristics of the Circuit de Monaco as an opportunity for Ferrari to challenge Mercedes more directly, with the Scuderia expected to benefit from the tighter, lower-speed layout where outright engine power plays a smaller role.

The optimism comes after Hamilton secured his strongest Grand Prix result since joining Ferrari, finishing second in Montreal after climbing from fifth on the grid and overtaking Max Verstappen in the closing laps. The performance marked a significant step forward for both Hamilton and Ferrari during the opening phase of the 2026 season.

Hamilton has repeatedly pointed to Ferrari’s straight-line deficit compared with the dominant Mercedes package as a key weakness this year. However, Monaco’s demanding street circuit traditionally places far greater emphasis on mechanical grip, cornering performance and driver confidence — areas where Ferrari appears increasingly competitive.

For Monaco supporters, attention will naturally also turn to hometown driver Charles Leclerc, who claimed an emotional home victory in 2024 and has already collected multiple podium finishes this season alongside Hamilton. Ferrari currently sits second in the constructors’ standings behind Mercedes.

The 2026 Monaco Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7 around the iconic Monte-Carlo circuit, one of Formula 1’s most prestigious and technically demanding venues.
