Former Formula One champion Alain Prost was reportedly injured during a violent burglary at his home in Switzerland earlier this week, according to Swiss media reports.
The French motorsport legend, who won four times on the streets of Monaco during his Formula One career, was allegedly targeted alongside members of his family during a home invasion at his villa in Nyon on Friday, May 19. Swiss newspaper Blick reported that Prost sustained a head injury during the incident after intruders entered the property and confronted the family.
According to the report, the attackers forced members of the household to open a safe before fleeing with valuables, including luxury watches. Swiss authorities have not officially identified the victims, although prosecutors confirmed that an investigation into a serious burglary matching the circumstances described by local media is underway.
Police in the canton of Vaud launched a large-scale search operation following the robbery, while Swiss prosecutors opened a criminal inquiry. French authorities have also reportedly been alerted amid suspicions the perpetrators may have crossed the border after the attack.
The incident has renewed concerns over a rise in violent burglaries affecting wealthy areas around Geneva and western Switzerland. Local reports suggest organised cross-border criminal groups are increasingly being linked to this type of targeted home invasion.
Widely regarded as one of Formula One’s greatest drivers, Prost won four world championships between 1985 and 1993 and remains closely connected to Monaco through decades of involvement in the sport and regular appearances in the Principality.
