Monaco City Hall has marked the 17th edition of its “One Tree, One Birth” initiative, planting a tree in the Saint James Garden for every newborn in the Principality…

The symbolic event brought together local families and officials, including Stéphane Valeri, President-Delegate of the Société des Bains de Mer, alongside members of the Municipal Council.

Designed to link new life with environmental responsibility, the initiative continues to grow year after year. Each tree planted represents not only a birth, but also a long-term commitment to sustainability and the preservation of natural spaces.

Part of the broader “Let’s plant for the planet” campaign, the programme has now surpassed 15,000 trees planted since its launch. It forms a key element of Monaco’s reforestation efforts, carried out in partnership with the National Forest Office and supported by the Prince Albert II Foundation.

Beyond its environmental impact, the initiative carries strong symbolic value, connecting families to nature from the earliest stages of life. By marking each birth with a lasting contribution to the environment, the Principality reinforces its commitment to future generations.

Blending community, sustainability and celebration, “One Tree, One Birth” continues to reflect Monaco’s long-standing dedication to ecological responsibility and collective action.
