The 119th edition of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters delivered a memorable week of tennis, highlighted by an extraordinary run from Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot…
The Monegasque reached the semi-finals after a series of standout victories, defeating top-ranked opponents including Lorenzo Musetti, Alex de Minaur and Hubert Hurkacz, firmly establishing himself among the world’s elite.

On Saturday, April 11, his remarkable journey came to an end against world number one and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. Despite the defeat, Vacherot earned widespread praise for his performance and his rapid rise in the ATP rankings, breaking into the world’s top 20 after starting the season far lower.
His Serene Highness Prince Albert II was present on centre court and warmly congratulated Vacherot at the end of the match, alongside Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy, President of the tournament. The Sovereign hailed the player’s achievement, highlighting both his resilience and the speed of his progression, describing the week as a source of pride for Monaco.

The tournament now builds towards a blockbuster final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, following the Italian’s straight-sets victory over Alexander Zverev. Elsewhere, Monaco’s Hugo Nys narrowly missed out in the doubles final.
Blending established champions with emerging talent, this year’s Monte-Carlo Masters once again confirmed its place as one of the most prestigious and captivating events on the ATP calendar.
