On March 29, dozens of children gathered on the Esplanade to take part in the second Road Safety Day, an initiative designed to teach essential habits from an early age while promoting more responsible mobility…

Despite grey skies, the atmosphere remained lively as young participants tested a range of cycling activities, from technical pump tracks to interactive workshops focused on awareness and coordination.

The event, supported by the Princess Charlène Foundation, emphasised learning through experience. Children were encouraged to engage directly with safety professionals, helping them better understand the role of authorities and the importance of following rules on the road. Creative activities, including pedal-powered smoothie bikes, added a playful dimension while reinforcing messages around sustainability and energy use.

Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène attended the event, underlining its importance within the foundation’s broader mission of education through sport. Alongside prevention and awareness, the initiative highlighted behaviour, responsibility, and respect in everyday environments.

The day also brought together key local agencies, including emergency services and community organisations, as well as sporting ambassadors such as Peter Sagan. The event concluded with a friendly cycling challenge, reinforcing a simple message: developing safe habits early can have a lasting impact.
