A former Carrefour Monaco employee has challenged his dismissal for serious misconduct before the Nice labour court, arguing that the case against him was constructed to remove a long-serving manager at lower cost…

The dispute centres on allegations of workplace harassment, which the retailer says were supported by multiple witness statements gathered during an internal investigation.

As reported by Monaco Matin, the former employee rejects the accusations and claims the investigation was neither neutral nor fair. His legal team argues that the dismissal formed part of a wider effort linked to workplace tensions and restructuring, while Carrefour maintains it had a duty to act once concerns were raised about staff welfare and behaviour inside the company.

The case has drawn attention because of the claimant’s long service and his past visibility in Monaco’s labour movement. In court, his lawyers pointed to a previously strong record within the business, while the company’s representatives described conduct they said had caused distress among colleagues and could not be ignored.

The claimant is also contesting the grounds of dismissal on financial and procedural terms, with compensation among the issues at stake. Carrefour, meanwhile, insists the decision followed proper review and was justified by the seriousness of the allegations.

A ruling is expected later this year. Whatever the outcome, the case is likely to be closely watched in Monaco because it touches on workplace protections, internal investigations and the balance between employee rights and employer responsibilities.
