Prosecutors nonetheless underlined the seriousness of offences involving the consumption of child sexual abuse material, arguing that demand sustains exploitation and abuse. The ruling reflects a balance between punishment, monitoring and the stated aim of reducing the risk of reoffending.
The case has again drawn attention to the role of specialist investigators in tracking online offences and identifying illegal activity through digital monitoring tools.
