For the first time, the Principality will host the annual Michelin Guide star ceremony, with the 2026 edition taking place at the Grimaldi Forum on Monday, March 16…

The event will bring together leading figures from the French gastronomic world as chefs await the announcement of this year’s prestigious Michelin stars. The Michelin Guide selects a different destination each year for its ceremony, highlighting regions that have made a strong contribution to culinary excellence. Monaco’s choice reflects its long-standing relationship with the famous red guide, which already featured the Principality in its very first edition in 1900. For more than a century, inspectors have closely followed the development of Monaco’s restaurants and its reputation as a destination for refined dining.

As reported by Monaco Matin, Michelin Guide international director Gwendal Poullennec said Monaco stands out for its remarkable concentration of high-level restaurants. The Principality currently boasts eight Michelin-starred establishments within just 208 hectares, making it one of the most densely awarded gastronomic destinations in the world.

Beyond Monaco itself, the wider French Riviera continues to demonstrate strong culinary vitality, with a stable number of starred restaurants across the Alpes-Maritimes region. Chefs in the area are known for combining classic Riviera traditions with modern creativity, drawing inspiration from Mediterranean ingredients such as fresh fish, vegetables, citrus fruits and olive oil.

The ceremony is expected to shine an international spotlight on Monaco’s exceptional gastronomic scene.
