The first information meeting for volunteers supporting the Grand Départ of the Vuelta a España in Monaco was held this week, at Lycée Rainier III…
The event attracted a full audience, reflecting strong local enthusiasm for one of the major sporting events scheduled to take place in the Principality next year.
Organisers presented the wide range of roles available to volunteers, who will play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the event. Responsibilities will include welcoming spectators, assisting with logistics, guiding visitors around key locations and helping coordinate teams and officials throughout the race weekend.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to outline the timetable and preparations leading up to the Grand Départ, which will take place on August 22, 2026. As the starting point of one of cycling’s three Grand Tours, Monaco’s hosting of the opening stage is expected to draw international attention and large crowds to the Principality.
Volunteers will therefore play an essential role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors whilst supporting the complex organisation of a major international sporting event.
Additional briefings and training sessions are expected to follow in the coming months as preparations intensify ahead of the historic start of the Vuelta in Monaco.
