Monaco’s environmental event Monacollecte has returned to Fontvieille for its fifth edition, offering residents a chance to clear out unwanted items whilst learning more about waste reduction and recycling.

Organised by the Société Monégasque d’Assainissement (SMA), the event is centred this year on the theme of zero waste. Visitors can bring objects they no longer use and find out how they can be reused, recycled or disposed of correctly within the Principality.

Held under the Fontvieille marquee, the programme also includes a number of practical workshops and demonstrations. Amongst them are sessions on zero-waste cooking, making simple home-made cosmetics, sewing and other small creative activities aimed at encouraging people to reuse materials rather than throw them away.

Several local associations and environmental groups are also present to explain their work and provide information about sustainability initiatives taking place in Monaco.

Monacollecte runs until 17:00 on Saturday, March 7, giving residents a final opportunity to take part, learn more about waste sorting and pick up a few practical ideas for reducing everyday waste.
