Monaco’s authorities are warning residents about a wave of malicious phone calls currently targeting people in the Principality, particularly elderly individuals…
The calls, made from various mobile numbers, involve scammers posing as French or Monegasque police officers. They claim there has been fraudulent activity on a bank account or credit card and attempt to obtain confidential financial information from their victims.
This coordinated scam campaign is designed to deceive anyone who responds to these false claims. The callers may sound convincing and create a sense of urgency, but the objective is always the same: to extract sensitive personal or banking details that can then be used for fraud.
Residents who receive such calls are strongly advised not to engage with the caller under any circumstances. Do not provide any personal, banking or confidential information. End the call immediately, block the number and report the incident to the Sûreté Publique on +377 93 15 30 15.
The authorities remind the public that legitimate police services will never request confidential banking details over the phone. Remaining vigilant and sharing this information with family members, especially elderly relatives, is essential to preventing further attempts at fraud in the Principality.
