Since 2023, the Société Nautique de Monaco has been offering a tailored fitness programme built around rowing, designed for sedentary individuals, those losing mobility, or people living with long-term health conditions…

The initiative, centred on the concept of “rowing for health”, aims to help participants regain control of their bodies through carefully adapted sessions that respect individual pace, ability and medical history.

Each workout is personalised in advance, allowing coaches to adjust exercises according to the needs and limitations of those attending. From gentle warm-ups to rowing machine work and muscle-strengthening activities, the emphasis is on rebuilding strength, flexibility and confidence in a supportive environment. Participants are encouraged to progress at their own rhythm, with alternative movements offered whenever needed.

Held every Wednesday and Friday morning in two time slots, the sessions currently welcome more than twenty regular participants. For many, the benefits are already tangible. Some report significant weight loss, improved flexibility and renewed independence in everyday tasks, whilst others simply value the social connection and sense of routine the programme provides.

Beyond physical improvement, the initiative has become a source of motivation and wellbeing, offering participants a renewed sense of purpose. With demand continuing to grow and feedback overwhelmingly positive, the Société Nautique is now considering expanding the programme with additional time slots, further reinforcing Monaco’s commitment to sport as a pathway to better health and quality of life.
