This landmark session marks a pivotal moment for the Olympic Movement as preparations intensify for the Milan Cortina 2026, the first Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to be fully conceived and delivered in line with the principles of the Olympic Agenda 2020 reforms. Sustainability, legacy and responsible governance are central to this new approach, shaping the Games from candidature through to delivery.

In their addresses, Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, and Kirsty Coventry, President of the IOC, reaffirmed the foundational role of sport in society, highlighting the enduring Olympic values of peace, respect and excellence as the world looks ahead to Milan Cortina 2026.
