The Direction de l’Action et de l’Aide Sociales (DASO) marked its tenth anniversary on the morning of Thursday, January 8, bringing together staff and senior officials to reflect on a decade dedicated to social protection in Monaco.
The commemoration was attended by Christophe Robino, Government Counsellor–Minister for Social Affairs and Health, alongside DASO Director Marie Thouvenin-Rapaire, who addressed teams involved in the department’s daily operations.
Formally established in 2015, DASO was created to centralise and strengthen the Principality’s social policies. Over the past ten years, the department has played a key role in supporting vulnerable groups, including children, families, people with disabilities, and senior citizens. Its work has helped bring about several major initiatives, such as the autonomy support unit, the minimum income scheme, expanded medical coverage for certain residents, and the creation of the specialised educational centre for children with disabilities.
The scale of DASO’s activity is reflected in its annual figures. Each year, the department processes around 3,500 administrative cases, supports approximately 500 people living with disabilities, monitors the protection of 200 children, and assists some 1,500 individuals on their path to employment. To carry out these responsibilities, DASO operates with an annual budget of €52 million.
As part of the anniversary programme, Director Marie Thouvenin-Rapaire will appear on this evening’s news broadcast, where she will look back on ten years of initiatives aimed at reinforcing social solidarity and safeguarding the most vulnerable members of Monaco’s community.
