School enrolment for the 2026–2027 academic year is now open across Monaco, with the Prince’s Government rolling out a streamlined process for families applying to public schools and private institutions under contract.
Parents can submit applications for primary, secondary and post-baccalaureate programmes via the MonGuichet.mc online portal, which remains accessible around the clock. Officials say the procedure has been overhauled this year, cutting back paperwork and simplifying requirements in a bid to make registration less of a bureaucratic endurance test. Paper applications remain available for those who prefer to apply directly through schools.
Primary school enrolment, covering nursery and elementary levels, runs from Monday, January 5 to Friday, March 13. Children aged three or turning three during the first term of the school year, who are Monegasque nationals or residents, are eligible for placement in public schools or contracted private establishments. Applications falling outside those criteria require a formal exemption request.
Secondary school registration follows a staggered timetable. Applications for Collège Charles III open from Friday, May 1 to Friday, June 19, while Lycée Albert Ier and Lycée Rainier III begin accepting applications earlier, from Monday, January 12 through to Friday, June 19. At the François d’Assise–Nicolas Barré Institution, enrolment is handled by appointment, with college applications open from early January to mid-March and lycée registrations running until Monday, June 1.
Students wishing to pursue post-baccalaureate studies can apply between Monday, January 19 and Wednesday, April 1, with all higher education applications now grouped under a single process. Meanwhile, applications for classes with adjusted timetables for intensive sports training will be accepted from Monday, March 16 to Friday, May 15.
Exemption requests are required for pupils living outside the Principality who are not Monegasque nationals, or for families seeking placement outside their designated school catchment area. These requests must be submitted between Thursday, January 1 and Friday, May 1.
The government says the digital overhaul is the result of joint work between the Directorate of National Education, Youth and Sport and the Interministerial Delegation for Digital Transition. The initiative forms part of the Extended Monaco programme, which aims to modernise public services and make everyday administrative tasks less painful for residents.
