The situation at the former Charles-III school in La Rousse’s Annonciade district is showing encouraging signs as slope stabilisation work progresses.
So far, seven anchoring rods have been installed and tensioned, with three more scheduled for completion by the end of the week to ensure the slope above the building is fully secured.
Preliminary assessments indicate that pressure on the structure has now fallen below the pre-alert threshold, a key safety measure. However, the final decision depends on the full analysis from independent experts commissioned by the Princely Government.
These expert reports are expected by the end of the day and will guide the authorities on whether residents, businesses, and shops evacuated from two nearby buildings last week can safely return.
If the assessments are favourable, a gradual return could begin as early as the afternoon of Tuesday, December 30, under the supervision of state services and in close coordination with French authorities, including the Prefecture and the municipality of Beausoleil.
At the same time, reopening Avenue de l’Annonciade to traffic is also expected on the same schedule, pending safety confirmation. Meanwhile, high school students will continue with remote learning, as work inside the building that houses their classrooms is still ongoing.
