Looking for ideas to keep children entertained over the holidays?

The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco is offering a festive programme that blends discovery, imagination, and a gentle environmental message, perfect for family outings during the Christmas break.

At the heart of the experience is Mediterranean 2050, the museum’s flagship exhibition, which continues to attract huge audiences after passing the symbolic milestone of half a million visitors. Spanning more than 1,000 square metres, the immersive journey takes visitors from the great oceanographic campaigns of the past to a hopeful vision of a regenerated Mediterranean. Children will be captivated by futuristic submarines, monumental projections, and encounters with dolphins, groupers, and other emblematic marine species brought to life through cutting-edge scenography.

For the holidays, the programme has been expanded with new activities designed to amaze young visitors. Highlights include a virtual dive into a marine protected area, no wetsuit required, and the rediscovery of the historic Jean-Jaubert pool and its coral reef at the aquarium. A sound installation retracing a century of underwater audio recordings adds another sensory layer to the visit.

Families can also turn their museum trip into a thoughtful Christmas gesture by “donating a fish” to a senior citizen, supporting marine conservation while offering an original and meaningful gift. Educational, playful, and inspiring, the Oceanographic Museum remains one of Monaco’s standout destinations for children and adults alike this festive season.
