As the holiday spirit settles over the Principality, Monaco’s historic old town transformed once again into a festive wonderland with the return of the beloved Chemin des Crèches.

Winding from the Rampe Major through Monaco-Ville and around the Prince’s Palace, the open-air trail showcases over 100 nativity scenes, each offering a unique artistic take on the Nativity. The displays draw inspiration from Monaco, the surrounding region, and beyond, incorporating everything from traditional wooden figures to intricate metalwork and animated scenes.

At night, the crèches are beautifully illuminated, blending seamlessly with the old town’s architecture and inviting visitors to pause and reflect. This year, the route has been extended to include new sections near the cathedral and the Chapelle de la Miséricorde, featuring highlights from Provence, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, and contemporary international pieces—including American metalwork and animated Italian designs.

Organisers emphasise that the Chemin des Crèches is more than just a festive attraction. It carries a deeper message of peace, solidarity, and remembrance, honouring persecuted Christian communities worldwide.

Open throughout the holiday season, the walk has become a cherished tradition for both residents and visitors, offering a serene, contemplative alternative to the usual Christmas bustle.
