The Reformed Church welcomed a full audience on Saturday evening for the final Concerts dans la Voûte performance of the year, a festive programme placing the trumpet firmly in the spotlight…

Marked by a warm Christmas spirit, the concert brought together pianist Catherine Nickin and violinist David Lefèvre with guest soloist Mathias Personne, principal trumpet of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, in what has become a familiar and intimate setting for both artists and audiences.

The evening opened with a piece by Henry Purcell, a work deeply rooted in Monegasque musical memory, which Personne previously performed during the Principality’s 700th anniversary celebrations. Accompanied by the church organ, the trumpet’s bright, resonant tones set the tone for a programme that combined elegance, virtuosity and accessibility. This was followed by a violin concerto and trumpet works by Telemann, Johann Nepomuk and Arutiunian, offering a varied journey through the Baroque and classical repertoire.

Over the past year, Concerts dans la Voûte has established itself as a space where classical music is presented in a more approachable and welcoming way, drawing an increasingly diverse audience. For the founding duo, this Christmas concert also marked the close of their first full season, a milestone celebrated with both pride and emotion. As the final notes faded beneath the church’s vaulted ceiling, the message was clear: music remains a powerful source of comfort, connection and shared joy. The next concert is scheduled for January 17, promising a musical escape toward sunnier horizons.
