The Principality celebrated an important cultural milestone today with the inauguration of the brand-new Caroline Media Library, unveiled by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover, Charlotte Casiraghi and Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy…

After revealing a bust of Prince Pierre, the princely family toured the striking new space before its official opening to the public.

Located near Collège Charles III and designed to evoke the prow of a ship, the Caroline Media Library brings together, for the first time under one roof, Monaco’s library, video library, sound library, children’s library and toy library. The result is a bright, contemporary, 2,500 m² cultural hub intended for all generations and all forms of learning.

Early visitors were instantly captivated. As HSH Prince Albert II noted, the space feels “like an open book onto the city,” offering harmony, comfort and thoughtful design throughout. With 200,000 documents, 118-seat auditorium, 80 reading and study places and 39+ hours of weekly opening, the facility aims to become a cornerstone of community life.

Inside, tailored zones welcome every age group: from cosy corners for toddlers and playful nooks for young readers, to a teen area featuring media collections and video games. Students and researchers benefit from a dedicated silent study room, while the auditorium will host screenings, talks and cultural programming.

Free and open to all, including Saturdays, the Caroline Media Library represents a major step in Monaco’s mission to make culture, creativity and knowledge truly accessible.
