Prince Albert II visited La couleur du souvenir, the new exhibition by celebrated Monegasque artist Claude Gauthier, bringing his personal support to a painter whose work has long chronicled the Principality in vibrant colour…

Displayed at the Maison de France, the exhibition features around one hundred pieces, many depicting Monaco’s evolving landscape alongside historical Grimaldi strongholds in France and Italy.

Gauthier, deeply proud of his roots, says his work aims to transmit a sense of Monaco’s cultural identity—a mission that has resonated since Princess Grace purchased one of his paintings in 1972, sparking international recognition. Each canvas, often requiring more than 50 hours of meticulous work, blends observation, memory and craftsmanship.

During the visit, the artist offered a specially created painting to the Maison de France, a symbolic tribute ahead of its upcoming centenary. The exhibition runs until 16 December and has already attracted enthusiastic attention from residents and visitors alike.
