The Monaco Sommelier Association held its 33rd annual gala on November 1st at the Yacht Club de Monaco, an evening where tradition, excellence, and conviviality blended in perfect harmony…

This year’s edition celebrated one of France’s greatest viticultural legacies: the prestigious 1855 Classification of Bordeaux Grands Crus. The association partnered with the Conseil des Grands Crus Classés en 1855, whose history stretches back nearly 170 years to the time of Thomas Jefferson, one of Bordeaux’s earliest admirers and promoters.

The gala brought together wine professionals, collectors, and enthusiasts from across the region, offering guests the rare opportunity to taste exceptional vintages from ten participating winemakers, including a special Jeroboam courtesy of Château Batailley. In total, 48 bottles were presented, a testament to the event’s scale and prestige.

To complement the evening’s remarkable selection of wines, Monaco’s top chefs contributed gourmet pairings. Michelin-starred chef Joël Garault, together with Lucas Littardi, delighted guests with dishes such as polenta à la persillade with citrus sweet potato and creamy truffle, and daikon radish with cod brandade and wasabi mayonnaise — creations designed to mirror the contrasts and depth found in fine wines.

The evening concluded with a charity raffle worth €35,000 in prizes; a fitting finale to a night celebrating the art of wine, gastronomy, and Monegasque elegance.
