AS Monaco’s winning streak came to a frustrating end on Saturday evening, as they suffered a 1–0 defeat at home to a stubborn Paris FC side on the evening of Saturday, November 1. Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, the Red and Whites were unable to find a breakthrough at the Stade Louis-II, where club president Dmitry Rybolovlev watched from the stands.

Coming off back-to-back wins against Toulouse and Nantes, Monaco entered the match looking for a third straight victory to strengthen their hold on a top-three Ligue 1 spot. Coach Sébastien Pocognoli kept faith in his 3-4-3 formation, with Caio Henrique returning to the back line and Aleksandr Golovin supporting Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Biereth up front.

The hosts started brightly, pressing high and pinning Paris FC deep in their own half. Golovin came close early on, firing narrowly over the bar, while Mohammed Salisu’s powerful header forced a fine save from Kevin Trapp. Krépin Diatta also went close, his curling effort grazing the top corner. But despite controlling the game, Monaco couldn’t find a way through, and the sides went into the break level at 0–0.

The second half brought an unwelcome twist. Just seven minutes after the restart, Paris FC struck against the run of play — Moses Simon pounced from close range to put the visitors ahead. Pocognoli responded with attacking changes, bringing on Folarin Balogun, Takumi Minamino and Ansu Fati, but Trapp continued to frustrate the home side, saving efforts from both Minamino and Salisu in the final stages.

As time ran out, Monaco threw everything forward, with wave after wave of attacks. In stoppage time, Minamino had one last chance to level the score, but his shot drifted just wide, sealing Monaco’s narrow defeat.

The result halts Monaco’s momentum and serves as a reminder of Ligue 1’s unpredictability. Pocognoli’s men will have little time to reflect, however — they travel to Norway on Tuesday night for a crucial Champions League clash against Bodø/Glimt, where they’ll aim to regroup and rediscover their winning form.
