Each year on October 24, the world celebrates United Nations Day, marking the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945, the foundation of the organisation dedicated to peace, human rights, and international cooperation…

Established in 1947 by the UN General Assembly, the day is traditionally observed with a concert at the General Assembly Hall in New York, where global leaders, including the UN Secretary-General, deliver reflections on the organisation’s mission.

Monaco, which became the 183rd member of the United Nations in 1993, plays an active role in promoting dialogue and sustainability within the UN framework. The Principality’s diplomacy focuses on issues such as environmental protection, human rights, and international security, reflecting its long-standing commitment to multilateralism.

Since first gaining observer status in 1956, Monaco has twice served as Vice-President of the General Assembly, during its 54th and 68th sessions. Its Permanent Representation in New York continues to advance the Principality’s values and priorities under Ambassador Isabelle Picco, who has held the post since 2009.

On this United Nations Day, Monaco reaffirms its dedication to global cooperation and to shaping a more peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable future for all.
