Monaco is making waves in the world of marine motorsport. Team Monaco has officially announced its entry into the UIM E1 World Championship presented by PIF, joining the elite electric powerboat series from the start of the 2026 season.
The move marks a new chapter for the Principality, combining its tradition of sporting excellence with innovation, sustainability, and a deep maritime heritage. The team will showcase Monaco on the global stage as a hub for high-performance sport and forward-thinking business.
E1 Team Monaco was co-founded by Maxime Nocher, 11-time World Kite Foil Champion, and Monaco resident Chris Taylor, co-creator of the Polly Pocket toy brand and an early investor in Formula E. Together, they aim to bring a blend of performance, sustainability, and elegance to the series. Official pilots and sponsors will be revealed at a later date, with Team Monaco welcoming potential partners eager to join the project.
“Team Monaco is where innovation meets elegance on the water,” said Nocher. “This is more than a race entry — it is a statement of Monaco’s commitment to performance, sustainability, and the future of marine sport.”
Racing under number 98, Monaco’s country code, the team will field both a female and male pilot, promoting equality and inspiring the next generation of Monégasque talent.
“Monaco is a special stop on the E1 calendar, centered around the Yacht Club de Monaco,” said Taylor. “Aligned with the Prince Albert II Foundation’s ocean regeneration mission and the Princess Charlene Foundation’s drowning prevention efforts, Team Monaco embodies the Principality’s sporting spirit and environmental vision.”
With its blend of high-speed thrills, innovation, and Principality pride, Team Monaco promises to make a splash on the world stage in 2026.
