Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène of Monaco took part on Monday, October 13, in the 2025 Leadership Meeting of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement — a major gathering dedicated to strategic dialogue and global humanitarian cooperation.

The high-level summit brought together representatives from 45 national societies across Europe and Central Asia, alongside the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Kate Forbes.

In his opening address, Prince Albert praised the enduring commitment and solidarity shown by the national societies, emphasising the importance of regional collaboration in tackling today’s humanitarian challenges. The Sovereign also paid tribute to Monaco’s long-standing bond with the Red Cross, tracing back more than seven decades.

Founded in 1948 by Prince Louis II, the Monaco Red Cross has since been led by Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace before passing into the hands of Prince Albert II, who now presides over the organisation with Princess Charlène serving as Vice-President. Their niece, Camille Gottlieb — a board member — plays a key role in rallying younger generations around the organisation’s humanitarian mission.

The royal couple later held bilateral meetings with IFRC President Kate Forbes and Her Royal Highness Tunku Puteri, President of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, to discuss shared priorities and strengthen cooperation across the Movement’s leadership.

The day concluded with a gala dinner at the Yacht Club de Monaco, attended by the princely couple and Camille Gottlieb — a fitting finale to a day underscoring Monaco’s enduring humanitarian legacy.
