Monaco’s Blue & Sport Alliance is once again combining environmental action with artistic expression, using culture as a catalyst for ocean preservation…

The association, which usually focuses on scientific missions in the polar and Antarctic regions, has announced a new Mediterranean-focused partnership with Help Save the Med, led by American sailor and conservationist Tom Woods. In 2026, Woods will embark on a 2,000-mile sailing expedition across the Mediterranean aboard his 20-metre vessel to document the sea’s evolving ecosystem and raise awareness of climate change’s local impact.

To support the mission, the Armitage Hotel hosted an evening, this weekend, where art met activism. A curated selection of paintings by international artists, some poetic, others intentionally provocative, were unveiled not merely for display, but as fundraising tools. Each artwork will later form part of a raffle designed to finance Woods’ voyage.

Beyond fundraising, the evening served a vital educational purpose. Researchers and environmental partners joined the stage to explain the science behind the artworks, reinforcing Monaco’s unique role as a bridge between state institutions, private enterprise, and field scientists.

As organisers reminded guests, protecting the oceans is not just a distant ideal — it is a shared responsibility, starting here in the Mediterranean.
