His Serene Highness Prince Albert II welcomed Mirjana Spoljaric, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), to the Princely Palace on Friday 10 October for high-level discussions on Monaco’s humanitarian engagement…

According to the Palace, the meeting focused on the ongoing collaboration between the Princely Government, the Monaco Red Cross and the ICRC, particularly in crisis response and protection of populations affected by conflict. Prince Albert II voiced his deep concern over the increase in violations of international humanitarian law worldwide, reiterating Monaco’s steadfast support for the ICRC’s mission and field operations.

The visit continued at the headquarters of the Monaco Red Cross, where Prince Albert II and Ms. Spoljaric were received by Secretary General Frédéric Platini for a working session on strengthening cooperation, notably in logistics and human resources.

The delegation also visited the exhibition (you) LEAVE ME ALONE by photographer Davide Primerano, which documents the harsh living conditions of migrants in nearby Ventimiglia. Presented by the Monaco Red Cross, the exhibition highlights the daily efforts of its volunteers assisting vulnerable people just fifteen kilometres from the Principality.

The encounter reaffirmed Monaco’s active role in defending humanitarian principles — not only on the international stage, but also on its own borders.
