His Serene Highness Prince Albert II participated in the 7th Summit of the European Political Community, held in Copenhagen on Thursday, October 2, 2025…

The gathering brought together European Heads of State and Government, leaders of European institutions and international organisations, with the aim of strengthening dialogue and cooperation to address shared challenges.

The Sovereign contributed to the round table on “Economic security and the reduction of European dependencies.” He underlined the importance of multilateralism, reminding participants that every state, regardless of size, has a role to play in building collective responses. Prince Albert II stressed the urgency of reducing reliance on external actors in strategic areas such as energy, technology and defence, while highlighting the crucial role of innovation and public support in high value-added sectors. By way of example, he pointed to Monaco’s startup incubator dedicated to clean energy, a symbol of the Principality’s commitment to ecological transition and decarbonisation.

The Prince also joined discussions on the creation of a European Coalition against Drugs, a Franco-Italian initiative first launched at the Tirana Summit earlier this year. The coalition seeks to boost European cooperation in tackling narcotics, fighting illicit financial flows, and developing preventive measures. On the sidelines, Prince Albert II met the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, congratulating him ahead of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026. He also exchanged with Xavier Espot Zamora, Head of Government of Andorra, thanking him for the organisation of the Games of the Small States of Europe last June, and recalling Monaco’s own focus on sport during its Council of Europe presidency.
