The Monaco Yacht Show celebrated sustainability last night with the announcement of the winners of the inaugural Blue Wake Awards during the Grand Opening Night at the Méridien Beach Plaza. More than 400 guests, including Monaco officials, industry leaders, exhibitors, sponsors and private clients, attended the event to honour innovations driving the superyacht sector toward greener practices.

Launched in early 2025, the Blue Wake programme highlights pioneering solutions shaping the industry’s transition to sustainability. Managed by the Water Revolution Foundation, it offers accredited exhibitors high visibility at the show, connecting them directly with yacht owners, shipyards, investors and decision-makers looking to embrace environmental innovation.

The awards recognised winners across four categories, with an additional Special Jury Prize for exceptional achievement. Nominees were assessed against strict environmental criteria, with claims verified wherever possible by third-party data. Only those demonstrating credible, high-impact innovation were shortlisted before the jury cast its votes.

Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show, said, “With the Blue Wake Awards, we are sending a clear message: environmental sustainability is not an optional extra — it is central to the future of our industry. The winners have shown that credible, scalable solutions are not just possible, they are already here.” Robert van Tol, Executive Director of the Water Revolution Foundation, added, “Every submission was subject to rigorous, science-based evaluation. This year’s winners represent real progress and set the benchmark for what responsible innovation looks like in yachting.”

The 2025 winners included TYKUN for its H1 hydrogen propulsion system, developed in Italy and now ready for production, which combines efficiency and performance while sharply reducing environmental impact. Tai Ping was recognised for its Biophilic Programme, a collection of biodegradable rugs made from natural fibres such as silk, wool and flax, which reduces water use by 60% and energy consumption by 85%. Deasyl received the award for its Sustainable Yachting Fuel, a low-carbon alternative to conventional marine fuels that cuts CO₂ emissions by up to 93%. Sanlorenzo was honoured for launching the world’s first superyacht equipped with a Reformer Fuel Cell system developed with Siemens Energy, which provides emission-free power at anchor while reducing annual emissions by up to 30%. The Special Jury Award went to SilverYachts’ catamaran Reduce, constructed entirely from recyclable aluminium with a lightweight, low-resistance hull design that maximises fuel efficiency and incorporates regenerative materials to minimise environmental impact.

From hydrogen propulsion to recyclable superyachts, the Blue Wake Awards demonstrated that sustainability is becoming a core measure of innovation in the yachting industry, signalling a future where luxury and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
