Monaco is gearing up for the 30th edition of the European Heritage Days, a unique cultural event that offers the public an opportunity to explore and appreciate the rich architectural heritage of the Principality.

This year’s theme, “Architectural Heritage,” will spotlight Monaco’s diverse and evolving built environment — a true reflection of architectural trends throughout history.

Since joining the initiative in 1996 — originally launched by the Council of Europe and the European Union — Monaco has been an active participant in this pan-European celebration, which brings together more than 50 countries and attracts nearly 30 million visitors annually across over 70,000 events.

Festivities will begin on Saturday, October 4, with a cross-border excursion to the Villa Eilenroc, a neoclassical villa located in Cap d’Antibes, offering visitors a unique cultural experience beyond Monaco’s borders.

The main event will take place on Sunday, October 5, when over 30 sites and institutions across Monaco will open their doors to the public, many of them rarely accessible. Visitors will have the chance to delve into Monaco’s cultural and architectural legacy through guided tours, open sites, and hands-on experiences.

The program includes construction site visits, architectural walking tours that highlight both famous landmarks and lesser-known gems, and creative workshops for children at the Studios de la Costa, designed to introduce young minds to spatial awareness and architectural thinking.

A highlight of this year’s edition is the participation of Jean-Philippe Hugron, a journalist and architectural historian, and author of Guide d’architecture Monaco: Beausoleil – Roquebrune-Cap Martin (2021). He will lead two specially curated tours: “Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and New Modernities” and “In Monaco, the Tradition of Innovation”

These guided routes will offer a deeper understanding of Monaco’s unique architectural evolution.

The full event schedule and detailed program can be found on the official European Heritage Days website.
