The Principality has begun the first phase of a major renovation programme at the Stade Louis II, aimed at upgrading the venue to modern standards while ensuring its continued role as a hub for international sport. Launched this summer, the works will see the complete refurbishment of the stadium’s refreshment stands, restrooms, and spectator areas, with improvements designed to enhance comfort, accessibility, and crowd flow.
The project, overseen by the Public Works Department in close coordination with the stadium’s management, also seeks to align the facility with the latest safety and quality requirements for major international competitions.
The renovation will be carried out in stages from 2025 to 2027 to allow key sporting events, including AS Monaco fixtures, the Meeting Herculis, and the Games of the Small States of Europe, to continue without major disruption. During this period, certain facilities will be temporarily relocated, and provisional measures will be put in place to maintain spectator comfort.
This marks the first step in a broader modernisation strategy set to unfold over the next decade, with completion envisaged by 2035. The programme aims to balance contemporary upgrades with the stadium’s long-standing tradition as a stage for world-class events.
