A concert of classical music to mark the Feast of the Assumption, due to be held in Monaco on Friday, August 15, has been cancelled at short notice.
The Cultural Association of the Mediterranean, organisers of the concert in honour of the Virgin Mary to be held at Monaco’s Church of the Sacred Heart, said that Franck Aspart, tenor, will not be able to take part following a road accident earlier this week as he was on his way to rehearsals.
The Sacré-Cœur Church in Monaco is also known as the Principality’s “Sistine Chapel,” a true architectural and pictorial treasure. Built between 1926 and 1929 under the leadership of the Italian Jesuits, the chapel was designed by architects Louis Notari and Fulbert Aureglia.
The Feast of the Assumption is a public holiday in Monaco.
