The Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra (OPMC) brought its summer concert season to a memorable close on August 7 with a festive open-air performance in the stunning courtyard of the Prince’s Palace…
The evening attracted a large and enthusiastic audience, drawn by the promise of a rich programme and the unique setting that has become synonymous with Monaco’s summer musical tradition.
Among the evening’s highlights was Max Bruch’s celebrated violin concerto, performed by internationally acclaimed soloist Sergey Khachatryan. His expressive playing and technical mastery were met with warm appreciation from the audience. For OPMC violinist Liza Kerob, the performance carried a personal note, as she fondly recalled meeting Khachatryan for the first time in 1999 and being struck by his extraordinary talent even then.
At the podium, conductor Emmanuel Tjeknavorian led the orchestra with energy, precision, and a natural authority that resonated with both musicians and audience alike. His interpretation brought clarity and vitality to the works performed, enhancing the sense of occasion.
The evening concluded on a joyful and historic note with Johann Strauss’s iconic Blue Danube waltz, famously broadcast to Apollo 11 astronauts during their mission in 1969. The graceful rhythms and sweeping melodies provided a fitting finale, marrying elegance with a touch of nostalgia.
As the final notes drifted into the warm Monaco night, the concert served as a testament to the OPMC’s artistry and its enduring ability to create unforgettable musical moments beneath the Principality’s summer skies. It was a season finale that celebrated both musical excellence and the unique charm of Monaco’s cultural scene.
