Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) has confirmed it is investigating claims of a cyberattack targeting the company, after what it described as a “potential reputational damage” surfaced on Sunday, August 3.

In a statement issued to NEWS.MC by the Group, SBM said the alleged act involved access to a “very limited number of employee/customer contacts” but stressed that no breach has yet been confirmed. “We immediately launched an investigation to seek all possible sources,” the statement read, adding that the company had promptly notified all relevant Monegasque authorities, including the Monegasque Digital Security Agency (AMSN), the Personal Data Protection Authority (APDP) and the Public Security Department. A formal complaint has also been filed.

The company reassured that, so far, no anomalies have been detected within its IT infrastructure and there has been no disruption to its operations. Nevertheless, internal teams remain “fully mobilised” to determine whether any data was compromised and to verify the authenticity of the claims.

While the investigation continues, SBM has pledged transparency and close cooperation with the authorities, as it works to clarify the extent of the alleged cyber malice and to safeguard the information entrusted to it by employees and clients alike.
